MINGORA: Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) head Senator Sirajul Haq said on Monday his party would resist any move to amend the Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution.
Speaking at a public meeting in Kalam in Swat, he said the appointees to key government positions must have the characteristics defined under the Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution.
The JI chief called for across-the-board accountability after the disqualification of Nawaz Sharif in the Panama Papers leaks case.
He said that the co-chairman of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and former President Asif Ali Zardari and military ruler General (R) Pervez Musharraf should be made accountable for their corruption and for abrogating the Constitution.
The JI chief said that the people would term the decision against Nawaz Sharif political victimisation if others named in the Panama Papers case and involved in corruption were spared.
