In brief

Clerics’ demo continues

The protest in front of Punjab Assembly by a few dozen followers of Dr Ashraf Jillali’s Tehreek Labaik Ya Rasool Allah Tuesday entered fourth day. They are demanding the resignation of Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah over ‘pro-Ahmadi comments’. The TLYR-Jalali started their campaign titled ‘Fill the Jail Movement’ on Saturday, ignoring the announcement of Pir Hameedudin Sialvi, a Sargodha based spiritual leader, of calling off the protest after meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif who visited Sargodha a week ago. Dr Jalali was part of Pir Sialvi led movement against PML-N government. On Tuesday, the protestors gathered at front of Punjab Assembly for court arrest and left the venue, as usual, after two to three hours when police did not come to arrest them. The Lahore High Court has banned any kind of demo on The Mall. –Staff Reporter
