‘We are not harassing anyone, rather we seek the truth’
Chairman of Anti-Corruption Commission Iqbal Mahmood on Tuesday said his agency is not harassing anyone in the name of investigation into the names that came up in Panama and Paradise Papers leaks.
He came up with remark while replying to a reporter’s question on why the anti-graft agency is grilling businessmen whose name have not been mentioned in the database of the aforementioned reports, released by US-based International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ).
“We are not harassing anyone, rather we seek the truth. We want to know whether any wrongdoing like money laundering had taken place to secure assets abroad,” he said.
The data, collated by the ICIJ, comes from the Panamanian law firm Mossack Fonseca and includes information about companies, trusts, foundations and funds incorporated in 21 tax havens
