Bungling MEPs head to Malta and Slovakia for EU investigation – forgetting one vital thing

The death of Mr Kuciak in Velka Maca, south-west Slovakia, triggered former prime minister Robert Fico to step down, with Mr Pellegrini replacing him in March this year.

Both countries will have their rule of law investigated after European Parliament President Antonio Tajani criticised MEPs for seemingly not acting on the countries, while punishing Hungary.

MEPs earlier this week voted to trigger Article 7 proceedings against Hungary, which could lead to the country being banned from voting in EU matters, amid claims their domestic activity has broken the EU rules of law.

Mr Tajani told radio station Talk24: “Why was nothing done then against countries like Malta and Slovakia, when you had two journalists killed here, and in the case of Slovakia, leading to the resignation of a centre-left prime minister?”
