In the digital age, journalists are working less independently than ever. The days of keeping one’s sources and scoops secret have largely ended, and projects like the Paradise Papers, the Daphne Project and Verificado 2018 show the high level of impact that comes when newsrooms work together.
Leaders in news innovation from ProPublica, Project Facet, MediaCloud and more — along with three International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) Knight Fellows — demoed collaborative journalism tools and projects at ICFJ’s “Steal My Tool” event at the recent Online News Association (ONA) conference in Austin, Texas.
Featured projects ranged from a tool that can help verify video in near real-time to an open-source platform for managing
