Prime Minister Joseph Muscat has told the media that there are currently no investigations underway into the PM’s Chief of Staff Keith Schembri, but what investigations are going on, are into 17Black.
Pressed on the future of Schembri’s position, Muscat said that he still had confidence in his Chief of Staff.
Muscat told reporters that he retained, ‘full faith in our system. I said that if there is a criminal investigation his position would not be tenable, as with any other person. There is currently no investigation into Keith Schembri; the investigation is into 17 Black.”
Emails leaked through the Panama papers show that Mr Schembri and Konrad Mizzi, Minister for Tourism had companies in their names which were in receipts of payments in excess of $2 million from company 17 Black.
