Billionaire businesswoman Denise Coates and her family paid an estimated £156 million in tax last year.
The figure puts the bet365 owners second in The Sunday Times newspaper’s list of the UK’s top taxpayers.
Ms Coates – the country’s best paid boss – was listed alongside her brother John, joint chief executive of bet365, and her father and chairman Peter.
The paper’s rundown of the top 50 taxpayers in 2017/18 is topped by Stephen Rubin, who is the majority owner of JD Sports and was liable for £181.6 million last year.
Third on the list is the entrepreneur Sir James Dyson and family who the newspaper calculated to have paid almost £128 million.
