MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Wednesday (May 8) suspended the implementation of number coding scheme for provincial buses in line with the 2019 Midterm Elections.
The measure, according to MMDA Chief Bong Nebrija, is to accommodate commuters traveling to and from the provinces during the the elections.
Meanwhile, the MMDA added that the Unified Vehicle Volume Reduction Program is automatically lifted for public and private vehicles during the weekend and on election day on Monday which was also declared a regular holiday.
The number coding scheme resumes on May 15, according to the MMDA. – Marje Pelayo
